Work

The big news: I've left my consulting role at Tchibo to start something of my own. I didn't leave because I disliked the work - I left because an opportunity came along to found a new company, and it was too good to pass up.

The new venture is an AI-native company, built from the ground up around what these tools now make possible. It's still early and largely under wraps, so I'll keep the specifics light for now.

What I'm most excited about is that I'm back to building. My time at Tchibo was mostly program management, coordination, and organisational work - valuable, but a long way from hands-on. As a founder I'm right back in the details, and after a couple of years away from it, that feels great.

Side projects

My personal data tracking system is still going strong and has grown since I last wrote about it. It continues to aggregate and explore things like:

The action button on my iPhone still triggers the shortcut folder that makes tracking most of this a one-tap affair. It scratches two itches at once: the quantified-self curiosity, and still writing code for the joy of it (even if Claude is doing a lot of the heavy lifting these days).

Life

Most of my time outside work still revolves around sports. I'm running and rowing regularly, and cycling is back now that the season has turned - though "summer" is doing a lot of work in that sentence, because it's been a decidedly rainy one here.
You can read more about my last year in sports here.

A fixed point in my week is still Saturday runs with mates and miles (matesandmiles.com).

Location

I still live in Hamburg, in Uhlenhorst, and I've been there long enough now that it just feels like home. The location still feels right.

The one change on the horizon is a new one to look forward to: I'll soon be visiting the new startup's office, also here in Hamburg. Same city, new base.

Outlook

The obvious answer is that everything now points at getting the company off the ground. Beyond that, the intention for the coming months is unchanged from what I'd hope for any summer: stay active, keep some slack in the schedule, and enjoy Hamburg - rain and all.
